Utilities Apprenticeships at Electricity Asset Services

At Electricity Asset Services, we believe the future of our industry depends on nurturing and developing the next generation of talent. Our apprenticeship programme is built on a proven track record of growing organic talent, providing young people with the skills, experience, and support they need to build rewarding careers.

We have worked in partnership with organisations such as Heriot-Watt University and Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Fife, giving apprentices the opportunity to learn from leading academic and industry professionals while gaining hands-on experience across live projects.

Many of the young professionals who began their careers with us have progressed into leadership roles, managing teams, delivering complex projects, and making meaningful contributions to the energy sector. Their journeys reflect our long-term commitment to developing people, investing in potential, and creating a sustainable future for the industry.

Tailored Apprenticeship Programme

We believe in investing in people, and that commitment starts with our trainees and apprentices.

We partner with trusted training providers to deliver tailored apprenticeship programmes that give you a strong foundation in the utilities sector. From hands-on experience to technical knowledge, our apprenticeships are designed to equip you with the skills and confidence to build a successful career.

Throughout your journey with us, we’ll support and encourage your development every step of the way, helping you progress and reach your full potential in the industry.

Our latest intake of 15 jointing apprentices have just started their careers with Electricity Asset Services. Each apprentice starts their journey by spending time with our civils teams to gain a full understanding of how our projects come together and how each discipline supports each other.

Once they’ve built a solid foundation, their jointing training begins. At EAS, we offer two routes to becoming a qualified jointer, either through our in-house training programme, followed by an NET Assessment, or by attending a dedicated course delivered by a network operator. There’s no single preferred route; we recognise that different pathways suit different people.

If you’re interested in starting your career as a jointer, keep an eye on our apprenticeship intake countdown above or follow our social media channels for updates on upcoming opportunities.

Apprenticeship FAQs

In a jointing role, there’s plenty of room to progress and expand your skills. As you gain experience, you’ll have the chance to work towards additional accreditations, including HV and LV cable work. There are also clear routes into supervisory and managerial positions for those who want to take the next step in their career.

For our office-based trainees, we offer the same commitment to development. We’re happy to support you through further training and professional qualifications that will help you grow in your role, with opportunities to progress into senior or management positions as your career develops.
When you first join Electricity Asset Services, you’ll spend time across different departments to gain a solid understanding of how the business operates and how each team works together. Once you’ve built that foundation, you’ll move into your chosen department or, if you’re on a jointing pathway, you’ll be paired with a lead jointer who will guide and support your learning as you develop in your day-to-day role.
Our main operational office is based in Lochgelly, Fife, where all inductions and training take place for employees in safety-critical roles such as jointing. Day to day, you’ll typically be working across our various sites throughout Scotland, depending on project locations.

For office-based positions, we also have offices in Larbert and Airdrie, giving you the flexibility to work from the location that best suits you.
Applications for our 2025 apprenticeship intake are now closed. However, we’ll be advertising trainee opportunities throughout the year, so keep an eye on our Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram pages for updates. You can also find our latest vacancies on Indeed so be sure to check there for any new roles that become available.
