As part of our ongoing focus on employee wellbeing, we held an internal walking competition throughout May.
Site and office teams from across the business competed to record as many steps as possible during the month, while getting outdoors and enjoying some healthy competition with their colleagues.
We were really pleased with how involved everyone got in the challenge. Together, the team completed an impressive 16,688,773 steps.
The winner by a considerable distance was our Civils Quality Inspector, Alan Robertson, who completed just over one million steps during May.
To put that into context, Alan walked the equivalent of approximately 477 miles or 18.2 marathons, all while balancing the challenge with work and his other commitments.
Our Trainee Jointer, Jude Young, finished in second place after recording 492,279 steps, narrowly missing the half-million mark.
Both Alan and Jude received vouchers to recognise their achievements.
Employees competed as part of either a site or office team, with the results based on the average number of steps completed by each team member.
Reactive 2 topped the site leaderboard with an average of 332,308 steps per person, while the Larbert office won the office competition with an average of 297,665 steps per person.
The competition remained close between several teams throughout May, with employees regularly checking the leaderboard and encouraging their colleagues to keep moving.
After completing more than one million steps in May, Alan decided to take on the challenge again.
Throughout July, he will aim to complete another one million steps, this time raising money for Cash for Kids.
It is a significant target, particularly so soon after completing the original challenge. We wish Alan the very best of luck with it.
Well done to Alan, Jude, Reactive 2 and the Larbert office. A massive thank you also goes to everyone who got involved.
We hope you are looking forward to the next EAS wellbeing challenge.
